SCAM Alert!!! We are hearing of scams related to Birman kittens from hopeful kitten buyers. If you find a kitten and want to verify it is from a reputable/known Birman breeder please contact us and we will try help you. If the "breeder" asks for a deposit via Zelle, Venmo etc., or other payment source where there is no recourse it is possibly a scam. Also, if the kitten price is far below what most breeders are charging and you can "Buy Now" from their website it is probably not a reputable breeder and instead a scam.
Bikhata Birmans is a small, home based cattery owned by Sue DeLadi located in Bloomington, MN. We are preservation breeders and dedicated to preserving the health, temperament and breed standard of the Birman breed. Our cattery is registered in the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and is a continuation of the Bikhata cattery founded by Mark and Charlotte Stolpe of St. Paul, MN. The Stolpe’s were longtime Birman breeders and showed many Birmans in CFA to Regional and National wins. One of their cats, BW, RW, GC Bikhata’s Felicia was CFA’s Best Birman in 1984-1985.
I had the privilege of working in a breeding program with the Stolpe’s after I purchased my first Birman from them in 1983, Bikhata’s Gabriel. I was introduced to showing and then breeding cats thru Mark and Char and my first litter was born in 1984. My love of this breed has continued to this day.
Prior to my show cats I was involved in breeding, training and showing AQHA Registered Quarter horses and Lhasa Apso dogs for over twenty-five years. Many people who knew me and my horses knew I liked horses with white stockings. When I attended my first cat show and saw the Birmans with white feet, that was it, my search for a purebred cat was over and I’ve had Birman cats exclusively ever since!
I am a member of the National Birman Fanciers, Sacred Cat Of Burma, CFA Birman Breed Council, Twin City Cat Fanciers Cat Club, COWS of Wisconsin Cat Club and actively show my cats in CFA shows throughout the US.
In 2012, I was awarded the Birman Circle Award for breeders that have "circled" the alphabet. This exclusive group of breeders have breed Birmans for a minimum of twenty- six years.
Our kittens are named with our cattery name first. The next part of the registered name follows a French tradition of naming the kittens with a name starting with a different letter of the alphabet each year. 2022 is the year for "T" kittens. Note: Cats that are imported do not necessarily follow this naming tradition.
Kittens from CFA Grand Champion and Champion lines are available occasionally to approved homes by reservation. Our kittens are raised lovingly underfoot with much care and attention. They are sold with a written Health Guarantee/Contract. Please feel free to contact us regarding kitten availability or to see if we have a retired show cat or breeder looking for a "furrever" home.
